Together

I don’t know how the one footed bird lost the foot but I have long realized how fragile our seagulls are. Today I saw how loving and protective they are.
Next time you see somebody hurl a rock at these beautiful birds, tell them about how much courage, strength, and love they possess.

Strongest

The second seagull chased off the swooping bird and took a protective stance in front of the one footed bird.

Stronger

A second seagull had been waiting near the one footed bird. The second seagull sprung into action when a third bird swooped in.

I was extraordinarily lucky to have the photographic encounter I did today. It’s January, we are having a winter storm, and the seagulls rules the beach.

A word about seagulls

I've come to love seagulls. If you spend enough time being still, being part of the beach, you'll become part of their flock. They are resourceful, graceful, strong, brave, and an important part of the Eco-chain that keeps the seaside cycle of life in balance. They are also incredibly fragile. If they break a wing, they will not survive. They will either become part of the food chain or be euthanized. Please teach your children to behave as good guests at the seaside. Don't let them hurl rocks at or chase or shoot water guns at the gulls. Teach your children to be respectful and don't let them engage in destruction for destruction sake. We can all enjoy a day at the beach together without injuring or killing the gulls.
